Before joining The Weather Channel, she was a weekday meteorologist at WRGB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Schenectady, NY, where she worked for seven years. While working at WRGB, she received the New York State Broadcasting Award for “best storm coverage” during the 1993 snowstorm. She began her career as an associate producer and later this week again at WTZA-TV (now WRNN), an independent station in Kingston, NY.
Among her special reports for The Weather Channel, Cass has presented a feature about being selected for a flight in an F-A 18 jet from the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels unit.
Cass holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Adelphi University on Long Island N.Y. She also holds a certificate of international studies from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. She holds the Seal of Approval of the National Weather Association, a televised meteorologist certificate from Mississippi State University, and is a full member of the American Meteorological Society with the Seal Approval of Approval.
She was born in Poughkeepsie and has a special interest in snow effects and winter storms. She is also fascinated by all extreme weather conditions, including tropical systems.
Cass was a great athlete who grew up playing football, softball and volleyball. In Korea she studied tae kwon do and obtained her red band. She still enjoys outdoor adventures such as hiking, cycling and skiing. She and her husband have three children.
