Kate Brannen is deputy director of Just Security and a contributor to Foreign Policy, where she previously worked as a senior journalist.

Kate Brannen is editorial director of Just Security and senior non-resident at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the Atlantic Council. His works have appeared in The Atlantic, Foreign Policy (FP), The Guardian, The Daily Beast, Slate, USA Today, Newsweek and Vice. Previously, she was a senior journalist covering the Pentagon for FP. Previously, Brannen was a defence reporter for POLITICO, where she was also responsible for POLITICO’s daily national security newsletter.

Brannen also covered the capitol Capitol Hill budget and defence policy debates as a congressional defence reporter. He spent three years covering the U.S. Army – first as an InsideDefense.com reporter, then as a ground war correspondent for Defense News. He discussed his reporting on MSNBC; NPR’s All Things Considered, On Point and The Diane Rehm Show; and PRI is at the point.

Brannen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in history. He holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the School of International and Public Affairs.
