Dana Perino is an American author and political commentator. She is best recognized as the 24th White House press secretary who served under President George W. Bush from September 2007 to January 2009. During that time, Perino also worked as a coordinator for energy, environment, and natural resources agencies, evaluating and approving major agency announcements. She was also responsible for providing regular updates on the actions of the White House Council for Environmental Quality (CEQ) to other White House offices. Currently, Perino serves as a political commentator for Fox News and hosts the network’s “The Five” show. He is also a book publishing executive at the renowned publishing house Random House. A graduate of Colorado State University and the University of Illinois Springfield, she has previously worked for the KTSC-TV, KCCY-FM and WCIA networks and the Department of Justice. On a personal note, the political commentator has been married to businessman Peter McMahon since 1998.


While still studying at Colorado State University, Dana Perino began working at KTSC-TV, a subsidiary of PBS. During this time, he also worked at KCCY-FM. During his time at the University of Illinois at Springfield, Perino worked as a reporter for WCIA, a subsidiary of CBS. She then served as a staff assistant to Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) in Washington, D.C., before serving as a press secretary for Representative Dan Schaefer (R-CO).

  In November 2001, she became a spokeswoman for the Department of Justice, where she served for two years. Eventually, Perino entered the White House as associate director of communications and worked with the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). From 2005 to 2007 he worked as da eputy press secretary. From March 27 to April 30, 2007, she was replaced by Tony Snow and became the White House press secretary in her absence, while Snow was treated for colon cancer. Then, in September 2007, Perino was promoted and became An Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary. He served in these positions until the end of the Bush administration in January 2009.

  Since leaving the White House, Perino has worked as a political commentator for Fox News. There he hosts the talk program “The Five”. In 2010, he began serving on the Broadcasting Board of Governors. That same year, he began a part-time teaching job at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. In 2011, Dana Perino joined Crown Publishing Group, part of Random House, Inc., as editorial director. However, he no longer works for the company. On September 18, 2016, his podcast titled “Perino & Stirewalt: I’ll Tell You What” debuted as a weekly series on the Fox news channel.

Dana Marie Perino was born on May 9, 1972 i,n Evanston, Wyoming, United States, to Leo and Janice Perino. He studied at Ponderosa High School. Later, she enrolled at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where she graduated in mass communication and with minors in both political science and Spanish. Subsequently, Perino went on to pursue a master’s degree in public relations at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS).
  Coming to his love life, he met businessman Peter McMahon in 1997. The couple married the following year.
