Arvind Krishna is an American engineer and executive with IBM and was appointed CEO in January 2020. He will take up the role on April 6, 2020, succeeding Ginni Rometty who had been CEO since 2012. Krishna joined IBM in 1990, and was most recently senior vice president for cloud and cognitive software at IBM. He is credited as a champion of IBM’s acquisition of Red Hat for US 34 billion dollars in 2018.
He will be the fourth Indian head of a major US technology group, joining Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen.
