Q + A

Where is your favorite place to travel?

My favorite place to travel is anywhere I’ve ever been. I’ve always cherented the feeling of being in an unfamiliar place, whether it’s a different neighborhood, a different city or a different country. For me, there was always something comforting and exciting about being in an unfamiliar environment. I do many tours, races, bike rides and rides around Chicago, because I am always looking for a new enclave that I have never seen or experienced. I spent years traveling from country to country with no other reason than absorbing the unknown, learning as much as I could and experiencing all the mysteries of life.

What do you believe?

I believe that people around the world, regardless of race, ethnicity, geography or origin, want the same things most of the time. The things that are similar are much larger than the differences between us. I believe that integrity is crucial and living a faithful life to whom you are is the greatest virtue. I believe in living a life on purpose and that the most important discovery an individual can make is to discover its purpose, and then live it, without apologizing. I believe the only limitations in our lives are the ones we put on ourselves. I believe in challenging me-when there is no danger in the struggle, there is no glory in triumph. I believe that life passes very quickly, so nothing should be taken for granted. I believe that there is value in every experience-good or bad. I believe that repentance for the things we have done is tempered by time, but we regret that the things we have not done are inconsolable. I believe we must always strive to do the right thing in every situation, but in difficult circumstances, do what you believe to be right and you will have inner peace. I believe that we must base ourselves on principles and let these principles guide their actions. I believe that leadership inspires others and that good leaders are able to translate their vision to people, who embrace this vision and update it. I believe we are all intertwined and that we are all born with power. I believe that when we recognize our power as individuals and then collectively, we have the power to create and the power to transform.
